GERMANY – The Central Franconian municipal hospital group ANregiomed has contracted Siemens Healthineers and Dräger to supply and manage the medical equipment in all three of its hospitals.
The ten-year partnership covers the provision of diagnostic imaging systems, training, and continuing education for hospital staff operating the equipment, and advising on approaches to personnel recruitment and long-term commitment.
Siemens will replace its diagnostic imaging and image-guided intervention equipment with new, up-to-date solutions, and will service and update the equipment over the course of ten years.
It marks the first time the company has embarked on a project of this scale with a municipal company, having only done so with major networked providers and full-service hospitals.
Dräger will supply some 6,500 biomedical devices for anesthesia, ventilation, and monitoring needs, along with infusion pumps and endoscopic instruments.
The more modern equipment will shorten exam times and reduce radiation exposure to an absolute minimum.
Standardizing systems across the entire hospital group will also allow personnel to be deployed at different locations without time-consuming technical training.
ANregiomed expects to significantly reduce overall costs with the technology. While the exact total was not disclosed, the price for the entire order volume is in the mid-double-digit million-dollar range, according to Siemens.
Siemens Healthineers assumes overall responsibility for the agreement and will prepare and implement jointly with ANregiomed an innovation and optimization project every year of the partnership.
The two will also implement an innovation and optimization project each year, including telemedicine and the development of a digital user interface to optimize processes and improve patient interaction.
Additionally, Siemens will train hospital staff and advise on strategies for recruiting personnel.
Many of ANregiomed’s systems will be replaced within the first 18 months, driving up compensation and workflow quickly.
Consequently, this will improve the quality and process workflows of medical care partly due to the shorter examination times and more modern equipment, as well as the radiation exposure of patients is reduced to an absolute minimum.
Standardizing the medical equipment throughout the entire hospital group will also enable cross-location deployment of personnel without the need for additional time-consuming technical training.
Initially concluded for a ten-year term, ANregiomed also has an option to extend the contract for an additional five years.
EHS, Siemens Healthineers to enhance cooperation
Elsewhere, Emirates Health Services (EHS) and Siemens Healthineers have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) of mutual cooperation with a focus on medical excellence, improving productivity, and innovation in providing various health care services.
Through the MoU, the two parties have agreed to support innovation in the field of healthcare in cooperation with the Siemens Healthineers Innovation Think Tank (ITT) by launching specialized innovation training with the aim of developing and standardizing institutional innovation.
In addition, an innovation center will be integrated to provide the necessary infrastructure and support for development and testing of ideas.
The MoU stipulates to identify and pursue local innovation projects through research, commercial mentoring, and incubation, including links with startups, and participation in Siemens Healthineers ITT events related to best practices in innovation.
Under the MoU, Emirates Health Services is involved in identifying innovation projects and workflows in areas of mutual interest, working with Siemens Healthineers to establish the infrastructure and specialized programs of the Innovation Center.
