EGYPT – Egypt is hosting the first ever Africa Health ExCon, the biggest medical exhibition and conference on the African continent, organized by the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply and Technology Management (AUPP) at Al-Manara International Conference Centre.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi launched the 1st Africa Health ExCon” in the presence of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and acting Health Minister and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar along with a number of senior statesmen.

The three-day event set to take place from June 5th to June 7th 2022 in New Cairo under the slogan “Your Gate to Innovation and Trade” will see the participation of 400 members of healthcare chamber members alongside a number of international and national companies operating in the medical sector.

The conference focuses on the best practices for sustainable healthcare in Africa along with showcasing the latest medical technologies in the field of medicine and initiatives that support the Africa ExCon as a sustainable platform that connects international healthcare partners together.

Egypt seeks an African scientific, technical, pharmaceutical and vaccine partnership coordinated through the African Union to localize the industry of manufacturing all types of vaccines including training programmes, education, treatment, transfer or exchange of expertise and drug manufacturing

Moreover, the Egyptian Cervical Cancer Elimination initiative that aims at protecting Egyptian and African women from cervical cancer will be discussed at the conference together with Egypt’s achievement in combating hepatitis C virus.

The conference is also a unique platform for global representatives of the healthcare sector to explore innovative medical supplies, expertise and work out solutions for health problems facing the health sector across Africa including medical tourism, public health and population challenges.

So far, international medical experts have agreed that the gathering is a sustainable platform for African countries to exchange expertise and coordinate with global companies to find solutions for the continent’s health problems.

Africa Health Excon also aims to accelerate Goal 3 of the Sustainable Development Goals that focuses on sustaining healthy lives, providing global health coverage and ensuring accessibility to meet certain quality thresholds for essential service.

Additionally, the conference aligns with the Agenda African Union 2063 which aims to raise investments in the health care sector to enhance the health level in the African continent.

During the conference, healthcare leaders highlighted the importance of enhancing partnerships between the public and private sectors operating in the health sector since the need to enhance African bodies at continental level was key in fighting Covid-19.

African countries were urged to accelerate economic growth after the coronavirus pandemic and balance resources of states to secure health services, boost the immunity of all people and ensure sustainability of health systems.

Africa ExCon will also stimulate Egypt’s leadership role in line with its strategic vision and will support the infrastructure development strategies implemented in the African countries to boost the quality of health care services offered to the people in Africa.
