EGYPT – Pfizer Egypt for Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceuticals has entered into a cooperation agreement with the Future University in Egypt (FUE) for enhancing pharmacy students’ skills.

Pfizer Egypt and the Cairo-based private university have signed a cooperation protocol to develop the educational process at the Faculty of Pharmacy and enhance the skills of future pharmacists.

The protocol will help us achieve our plan that focuses on enhancing the capabilities of our students to help them become exceptional pharmacists who could excel at work and be able to help their community,” Ebada Sarhan, President of Future University in Egypt, said in a release.

The two parties have also agreed to work closely to educate pharmacy students on key skills needed to fill the gap between academic life and the labour market, including marketing and communication skills, strategic planning skills, and essential business skills.

In addition, the cooperation agreement is in line with Pfizer Egypt and FUE’s strategy to support the development of the healthcare sector in line with Egypt Vision 2030.

It will allow the Pfizer Egypt team to partner with government-owned entities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in key initiatives that support healthcare professionals and patients.

Pfizer Egypt’s strategy focuses on research, innovation, and development to provide the best treatments based on the latest scientific breakthroughs,” Ahmed El-Shazly, Country Manager for Pfizer Egypt and Sudan, said in a release.

He outlined that Pfizer aims to support healthcare development at large and digital transformation through transferring the latest technologies and global experience to the Egyptian market in line with Egypt Vision 2030.

Ahmed El-Shazly underscored that the biotechnology company is focused on investing in human capabilities and providing world-class training programmes for pharmacists.

As part of the cooperation protocol, the Pfizer Egypt team will shed light on the key role of the private sector in providing the latest treatments to patients.

The agreement comes days after the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) signed a cooperation protocol with a group of private-sector healthcare providers, including Alameda Healthcare, Alpha Cure, Cleopatra Hospitals Group, and Saudi German Health Centers.

The agreement between the health ministry and the private sector’s healthcare providers in Egypt is part of the government plan to improve the quality of health services provided to citizens while boosting medical tourism in the country.

It will build on ongoing efforts of the Egyptian health ministry in reducing government expenditures for treatment abroad at state expense and easing the burden on patients who receive treatment abroad at their own expense.

Under this protocol, Alameda Healthcare will be hosting the medical training sessions of eligible doctors under the supervision of our highly experienced group of medical professionals.

Egyptian doctors will have the opportunity to learn alongside some of the greatest consultants and top doctors in the country, whom we are proud to have with us at Alameda,” the healthcare network noted.

In addition, the cooperation protocol will ultimately transform the healthcare sector by uplifting the doctors’ medical proficiency to provide high-quality medical services to patients in Egypt.
