INDIA – Healthcare giant Manipal Hospitals has entered into a strategic pact with FUJIFILM India to protect electronic health information and patient privacy.

Manipal Hospitals and FUJIFILM India, a leader in photographic technological innovations, have agreed to leverage the latter’s innovative digital technology for storing sensitive medical documents and images.

The Indian hospital chain will receive a large-scale Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), powered by FUJIFILM India, that eliminates the need for manually storing, retrieving, and sending sensitive information, films, and reports.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Dilip Jose, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Manipal Hospitals, said: “We are glad to partner with FUJIFILM India, this partnership will further add value to our existing diagnostic portfolio and treatment outcomes.”

He pointed out that the interoperability of the advanced medical imaging system will accelerate the group’s progress toward digitization across its network of hospitals, adding that it will help promote the penetration of Manipal Hospital’s clinical healthcare services across its network

FUJIFILM’S next-generation system will enable the storage of medical documents and images in secure off-site servers while the PACS software will ensure that sensitive medical data can be accessed via mobile devices and workstations from anywhere in the world.

Under the strategic deal with Manipal Hospitals, the medical imaging technology company will deploy its advanced system to 23 hospitals and 45 teleradiology facilities under the umbrella of Manipal Health Enterprises across India.

The ultra-modern Radiology Information System (RIS) PACS will be available for radiology and cardiology specialities. Moreover, it has a modular design that is expandable to all future centres of Manipal Hospitals.

In addition, the state-of-the-art system is scalable to more clinical specialities and currently covers three million studies per year.

With a focus on patients, the RIS PACS will improve patient compliance through quick access to medical images from any Manipal Hospital across India.

The latest version of the software will allow patients digital access to reports anywhere, anytime while improving diagnosis in health care via virtual appointments, which is convenient for both clinicians and patients.

On his part, Mr. Koji Wada, Managing Director of FUJIFILM India, said: “As a trusted healthcare technology provider globally, we are delighted to partner with Manipal Hospitals to bring state-of-the-art digitized technology solutions to patients.”
