US – Johnson & Johnson consumer self-care president, Michelle Wang Goodridge has been elected to the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) Board of Directors as the chairperson.
Her appointment was made during CHPA’s annual membership meeting and saw an additional six new members added to the Board of Directors.
The CHPA is the leading national trade association that has been trying to ensure Americans have access to over-the-counter (OTC) medications, dietary supplements, and consumer medical devices.
Goodridge has been serving as a standing member of the CHPA’s board of directors since 2019 prior to her appointment and will become the first ever female chair of the association.
She has been a notable leader of Johnson & Johnson with commendable feats like overseeing the company’s Self Care portfolio, including well-known over-the-counter (OTC) medicines and naturally inspired health and wellness products.
Goodridge has also led marketing and commercialization of Janssen Neuroscience, Consumer Health Self Care, McNeil Nutritionals and Wellness & Prevention business unit functions in the U.S. and globally.
Her appointment comes strategically during the COVID-19 pandemic when selfcare has become a vital component of healthcare.
Goodridge expressed her willingness to help transform the consumer healthcare industry and she looks forward to promote the safe use of OTC medicines and advancing dietary supplement regulatory modernization.
She plans on continuing CHPA’s industry-wide commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in order to deliver meaningful change within the medical industry.
Goodridge succeeds previous chair Paul Gama, president of Personal Health Care for the Procter & Gamble Company (P&G).
During his tenure, Gama helped CHPA navigate through an extremely challenging pandemic year.
Goodridge’s experience at Johnson & Johnson will benefit CHPA’s main agenda of ensuring Americans have access to over-the-counter (OTC) medications, dietary supplements, and consumer medical devices.
