USA – The medical supplier of artificial intelligence-based ultrasound software, Ultrasound Intelligence, has extended an existing exclusive agreement with GE Healthcare of the United States.

Intelligent Ultrasound Group announced that it has extended its existing artificial intelligence (AI) tie-up with GE Healthcare focused on women’s health, enabling the latter to use the ScanNav Assist AI software in a new segment of automated ultrasound image analysis that is outside the parties’ original agreement.

Intelligent Ultrasound, based in Cardiff, UK, and Atlanta, US, creates artificial intelligence-based clinical image analysis software tools for the diagnostic medical ultrasound market, as well as high-fidelity virtual reality simulators for the ultrasound training market.

The Company, which operates in two divisions – clinical artificial intelligence and simulation – announced the extension of an existing and exclusive women’s healthcare AI deal with the healthcare manufacturer GE Healthcare.

To automatically identify and grade ultrasound images, ScanNav Assist employs machine learning-based algorithms.

The AI technology is used in GE Healthcare’s SonoLyst software on the Voluson SWIFT ultrasound machine, which has received regulatory approval in the US and EU.

CEO Stuart Gall said “this supplementary product extension…reinforces why we are excited about the long-term growth potential of our ‘classroom-to-clinic’ business.”

According to the terms of the new exclusive agreement, GE Healthcare will be able to use Intelligent Ultrasound’s ScanNav Assist AI – a software that uses machine-learning based algorithms to automatically identify and grade ultrasound images – in a new segment of automated ultrasound image analysis that is not covered by the group’s original agreement.

While the terms of this latest exclusive agreement and the timing of the related product launch remain unknown, the company informed investors that the supplementary product line is expected to support the company’s ongoing growth of royalty revenues ‘in the longer term.’
