USA – Subtle Medical, a leading provider of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for medical imaging, and Siemens Healthineers, a leading medical technology company, have announced a partnership to integrate Subtle Medical’s SubtleMR image-enhancement software into Siemens Healthineers’ MRI machines.
SubtleMR will be integrated into Siemens Healthineers’ Open Recon reconstruction pipeline. SubtleMR is intended to provide DL (deep learning) post-processing for denoising and increased sharpness on the vast majority of MRI sequences.
Siemens Healthineers’ planned Open Recon interface is intended to allow third-party image reconstruction and post-processing solutions to be directly integrated into the reconstruction pipeline.
This eliminates the need for an additional image export step, and the results are displayed directly on the scanner console.
It is planned to make the reconstruction, including post-processing with SubtleMR, selectable in the user interface.

Artificial intelligence has proven to be a promising tool for improving patient comfort by allowing for faster imaging exams as well as higher quality imaging to support more timely and accurate diagnosis.
SubtleMR, powered by deep learning, improves the image quality of accelerated MRI scans, resulting in a better patient experience and a more efficient MRI program. The technology can be applied to the vast majority of body parts and sequences.
SubtleMR and SubtlePET, Subtle Medical’s clinically validated AI-powered software solutions, increase image capture efficiency by improving the quality of both accelerated and low dose imaging.
Subtle’s solutions work with all scanner models and field strengths, allowing institutions to reap the benefits across their entire scanner fleet. Subtle Medical will be present at the RSNA in 2021.
Further to this new development, Siemens Healthineers has announced the FDA approval of two new mammography reading and workflow optimization solutions that expand the company’s breast health offerings.
The Mammovista B.smart reading platform accelerates the breast imaging reading workflow, and the teamplay Mammo Dashboard tool optimizes workflows by visualizing key performance indicators (KPIs) in the breast imaging process.
The company also recently launched the Naeotom Alpha, the world’s first photon-counting CT scanner, bringing profound impact in many clinical fields and expanding the role of CT in clinical decision-making. As of today, the system is cleared for clinical use in the U.S. and Europe.
Royal Philips, has also incorporated its breakthrough spectral CT imaging technology into a hybrid Angio CT suite.
Philips hopes to give interventionalists immediate table-side access to these two key imaging modalities by combining the company’s Spectral CT 7500 system and its image-guided therapy system – Azurion with FlexArm – in a single interventional suite solution, allowing them to perform procedures requiring both CT and Angio guidance in one room.
Philips is working closely with leading clinical institutes such as the Mayo Clinic and Baptist Health’s Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute to develop this integrated solution.
It will be presented at the 2021 Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting, which will be held in Chicago from November 28 to December 2.
